Rotary Action Group for Diabetes (RAGD)

Globally, more than 463 million people are living with diabetes while nearly half don’t even know.  That is 1 in 11 persons suffering from diabetes.  3.8 million deaths are caused by diabetes and high blood glucose.

Diabetes is the leading cause of  Kidney Failure, non-trauma Lower Limb Amputations,  Loss of Vision among working adults, Increased Risk of Heart Disease and Stroke.

Around the world, millions suffering from diabetes are unable to access life-saving treatment and lack the means to manage their condition.

Rotary Action Group for Diabetes aims to address the Global Diabetes Epidemic by raising awareness to the humanitarian hearts and minds of 1.2 million members of Rotary International and other individuals and organizations who would like to join our efforts in our Areas of Focus.

Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM)

Malaria is one of oldest and deadliest diseases, devastating families, communities, and countries. Yet we have the tools to end malaria in a generation. This is why we are putting all our energy into  eradicating malaria from the world because we now know how to. Rotarians make a KEY difference.

  • In 2019, malaria claimed 409,000 lives and caused 229 million cases. 67% of deaths were in children under the age of 5 years.
  • Malaria accounts for half of missed days in African schools. Malaria may occur several times in children during the year in endemic countries. They cannot go to school and learn effectively, ultimately impacting their ability to earn a living.
  • Keeping children healthy enables parents to go to work and reduce the need to spend their wages on malaria treatments and health care.

Malaria Keeps Families And Communities From Prospering. By Sustaining Investments In Ending Malaria And Improving Health, We Can Unlock Economic Growth And Human Potential.

  • Malaria-free countries have 5x greater economic growth than countries with malaria.
  • A 10% decrease in malaria has been associated with a .3% rise in GDP.
  • Every $1 invested in malaria control in Africa returns $40 in economic growth, contributing to Africa’s prosperity and its prospects as a trading partner.
