Rotary’s Council on Resolutions and Council on Legislation give us a voice in how our organisation is governed.

Each Rotary District chooses a representative for a three-year term. They represent their Districts at three meetings of the Council on Resolutions and at the Council on Legislation during their term.

I have the honour of being the District 9620 Representative for the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Councils on Resolutions and 2022 Council on Legislation. PDG Darryl Iseppi will be my “alternate” if I am unable to complete my duties during this triennium.

The Council on Legislation meets in Chicago every 3 years to review and vote on proposed changes to the legislation that governs Rotary. The representatives from each of the 545 Rotary Districts consider enactments, which change Rotary’s governing documents, and position statements by the RI Board.

The Council on Resolutions meets online every year to vote on resolutions proposed by clubs, Districts, and the RI Board. Each District also votes on urgent enactments proposed by the RI Board that will amend the constitutional documents. Resolutions are requests to the Board or the Foundation Trustees to take an action that is outside the purview of the constitutional documents.

Voting for the 2020 Council on Resolutions is completed by 1 November 2021. The District 9620 COL representative (PDG Chris Wright) votes on each of the 36 resolutions.

Resolutions and the urgent enactment are available for all Rotarians to read here

Any Rotarian can view the resolutions, but only the District representative (PDG Chris Wright) can vote.
